Project: STEEL GRADING (17 CONTAINERS)
Date: DELIVERING OCTOBER 2022
Background:
Shipment of 17 containers delivering to client - North America’s largest producer of open web steel joists, joist girders, steel deck and steel bar grating.
Operation included transloading ocean containers full of steel grating to flatbed trucks for delivery.
Metal grating strapped to inside of container ready for ocean transport.
Some of the straps were compromised during transport aboard vessel causing issues during transloading.
Solution:
Extensive warehouse space in Edmonton was used to store and transload contents of containers. Heavy duty equipment, including but not limited to: cranes, heavy payload forklifts with extendable blades, etc, was required to lift the steel grating out of containers and transport onto flatbed.
This equipment, especially the crane was not always available for use, so deliveries had to be well timed in advance and communicated thoroughly. Driver availability was also a major factor in ensuring smooth, safe and timely delivery of each load. All dock time was booked in advance with client per Roadpin’s standard operating procedures.
Outcome:
Overall, delivery to client was carried out smoothly. They commended us for our constant communication and updates. Furthermore, all equipment was delivered safe and securely tarped with no damages.
